Lobivia camataquiensis is a compact, globose to short-cylindrical South American cactus. The stem is green to grey-green and bears numerous low ribs with small, closely spaced areoles. Fine radial spines form a relatively open covering over the body, while central spines may be weak or absent. The species is associated with the highland regions of Bolivia, where Lobivia and related taxa occur in dry, rocky environments with pronounced seasonal variation in temperature and rainfall.
