Flower to 4½ inches (11 cm) across. Petals oblanceolate, obtuse to truncate, tending to be slightly revolute, dusky red. Filaments dark red. Stigma green. Stem columnar, to 3¼ inches (9½ cm) in diameter; central spines to ⅜ inch (10 mm) long. ISI 99-11; HBG 82623, Schick 572-3.
