Soil: Very well drained, non organic soil.
Watering: Once a week in summer time, no water in winter.
Sun exposure: Direct sunlight, but can tolerate shade.
Solitary cactus, with olive epidermis. It flowers from a very young age in white flowers with beautiful sugar cane like stigma. It is a very slowly growing cactus and requires extremely good drainage, best grown with only 10% organic matter in soil mix.

G. schickendantzii commonly flowers from lateral areoles as well as from the crown. Flowers funnel shaped with long floral tubes, white to reddish, to 5 cm long.
