Description
Mediolobivia pygmaea is one of the longest known species of the genus Rebutia and the oldest species of the Digitorebutia section . It was discovered by RE Fries in 1901 in the Argentinian province of Jujuy near Yavi, in 1905 it was described as Echinopsis . The species name is derived from its height, at the time of its description it belonged to the smallest of the known cactus species, pygmaeus means dwarf, stunted.
