It is a rare and very sought after varietal of E. Horizonthalonius. Only been discovered in 1999 it has stunted growth, flowers appear on mature plants are usually white, but can be pink as well.

It is a rare and very sought after varietal of E. Horizonthalonius. Only been discovered in 1999 it has stunted growth, flowers appear on mature plants are usually white, but can be pink as well.
Soil: Very well drained, non organic soil.
Watering: Once a week in summer time, no water in winter.
Sun exposure: Direct sunlight, but can tolerate shade.
Solitary cactus, barely rising above the ground. It flowers in summer time with white,funnel shaped blooms. Very easy to cultivate.

Gymnocalycium schickendantzii is a nice looking broadly globular, somewhat flattened cactus similar to Gymnocalycium saglionis, but with quite varied spination. G. schickendantzii commonly flowers from lateral areoles as well as from the crown. Flowers funnel shaped with long floral tubes, white to reddish, to 5 cm long.
